John is the President and a founder of Edson Moore Healthcare Ventures (EMHV). EMHV acquired a portfolio of 13 private and publicly traded healthcare securities from Elan Pharmaceuticals in September 2002. He currently serves on the board of Elite Pharmaceuticals (AMEX).
John has led a diverse career in investment banking, private venture capital and business management. He has been the President & CEO of Optimer, a consumer products company since 1994. John started his career by investing in financially troubled manufacturing companies. At age 18, he acquired a large shareholding of a publicly traded manufacturing company, CGS Scientific. Following the successful turnaround and sale of that company, he graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in History. He worked for a number of Wall Street firms including Lehman Brothers and Hambrecht & Quist. John has bought and sold control of two publicly traded companies Lindly & Company (an industrial instrument producer) and American Electromedics (now Equidyne on the AMEX). After the successful sale of his shares of American Electromedics he founded Optimer in 1994. Recently Mitsui & Co. ($100 Billion in sales) has acquired a 15% stake in a division of Optimer.
